RAKAPOSHI EXPEDITION

🏔️ Rakaposhi Peak Expedition

Rakaposhi (7,788 meters / 25,551 feet) is one of the most majestic and visually striking peaks in the world, proudly towering above the Nagar and Hunza Valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Meaning “Shining Wall” in the local language, Rakaposhi is known for its massive prominence, spectacular glacier faces, and unrivaled beauty, making it a dream destination for serious climbers and adventure seekers.

Ranked as the 27th highest peak in the world, Rakaposhi is renowned not just for its height, but for the steep vertical rise—the mountain ascends dramatically from the base at just 2,000 meters to nearly 8,000 meters within a short horizontal distance, making it one of the greatest mountain faces on Earth.

📍 Location & Significance

Located in the Karakoram Range, Rakaposhi lies near the Karimabad area of Hunza and the Minapin Village of Nagar Valley, offering easy access for trekkers and climbers. It is part of the Rakaposhi-Haramosh Mountains, a subrange of the Karakoram, and has been successfully summited by a select number of climbers since its first ascent in 1958 by a British-Pakistani expedition team.
