Changi Tower Mountain:
Changi Tower is the second-highest rock peak in the Nangma group of mountains, with an elevation of 5,820 meters. It is part of the Amin Massive, which includes Amin Brakk and other unclimbed spires.

Nangma Valley is often called the “paradise of rock climbing” and the gateway to Changi Tower. The valley is a free zone, requiring no permits or climbing fees, making it an attractive destination for climbers.
Climbing History:
The first ascent of Changi Tower was made by Polish climbers Jan Kuczera and Tomasz Polok, who climbed the southwest pillar of the final tower on the southwest ridge of Changi Tower’s east summit. They named this formation “Barasa” or “Changi Peak.” Their route, with its challenging sections and a grade of VII, is documented in the American Alpine Journal.
Expedition Details:
The journey to Changi Tower typically starts with a six-hour trek from Kanday village, accessible after a five- six-hour walk through green meadows and forests. The base camp is the starting point for most expeditions to the mountain.
Notable Ascents:
- An all women’s team, including Abby Watkins, Vera Wong, and Nicola Woodford, climbed “Excess Baggage” on Changi Tower, rating it at 5.10 and A2+. Watkins and Wong hold the women’s speed record for an ascent of El Capitan’s Nose.
- New Zealanders New Norton and Paul Weber climbed “Just a Quickie,” a route that started left of “Excess Baggage” and finished on the North Summit. The climb involved 26 pitches and was graded at 5.10 and A1.
