Biacherahi NorthTowers 5900m

The Biacherahi North Tower, located in the Karakoram Range of Pakistan, is a challenging and exciting expedition. Standing at 5,880 meters, this peak is a part of one of the most rugged mountain regions in the world. Biacherahi is a group of three towers situated opposite the Latok range in the Panmah Muztagh, with its base camp located on the Choktoi Glacier. In July 1999, the northern tower (5,880 m) was first climbed by a Scottish expedition team. Initially, the team had intended to open the North Spur of Latok III, but after a serac fall nearly claimed the lives of three members, they abandoned their plan and opted to climb the Biacherahi towers instead. (Source: Blank on map) What makes these towers particularly appealing to climbers is the sense of adventure they offer at this altitude. All the towers are under 6,000 meters, which means climbers do not require the special permits needed for peaks above 6,000 meters in Pakistan. The northern tower’s north face resembles a stunning shark fin, clearly visible from the Nobande Sobande Glacier. In May 2018, the region was featured in the documentary Zabardast (/Wonderful), directed by Jerome Tanon, which quickly became a favorite at mountain film festivals. The Biacherahi Northern Tower even graced the film’s cover. In September 2018, we had the opportunity to witness the tower ourselves while crossing Skam La, with a breathtaking view from the Nobande Sobande Glacier.
