Miar Peak Expedition
Miar Peak – Karakoram’s Alpine Jewel
Location & Overview
Miar Peak (6,824 m / 22,388 ft) rises above the Hispar Glacier in the Nagar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Part of the Karakoram Range, this peak is surrounded by some of the most stunning alpine scenery in the world. The approach trek to its base camp passes through Hoper Valley, along the Bualtar and Barpu Glaciers, offering jaw-dropping views of Spantik, Malubiting, and Ultar Sar.
Miar Peak is considered a semi-technical climb, ideal for experienced trekkers and mountaineers aiming for a 6,000m+ summit with breathtaking panoramic views.
Climbing History
Although less documented than Karakoram giants, Miar Peak has been climbed by both local and international teams since the 1980s. Its accessibility from Hoper and the combination of snow slopes, ice climbing, and ridge traverses make it a sought-after objective for those training for higher Himalayan climbs.
